The Finance Committee oversees the overall finances of the parish, ensuring all the receipts and payments are recorded appropriately, providing prior approval of larger items of expenditure, as well as overseeing timely and accurate completion of both Diocesan and HMRC returns.

The HMRC return relates to Gift Aid, where the parish reclaims 20p for every pound parishioners contribute through weekly collections if the parishioners have signed a related declaration confirming they are a UK taxpayer – more information regarding Gift Aid can be obtained from the parish office via the Contact Form.

In addition, the Committee also has responsibility for Health and Safety issues. Having regard to both Diocesan and wider legal requirements, these responsibilities include ensuring all necessary equipment checks are completed in accordance with related requirements, periodically validating compliance with related legislation and making sure all equipment is in working order.
