January Teams of Our Lady

TeamofourLady

Teams of Our Lady is an international organisation which was formed to help married couples within the Catholic Church – although couples do not necessarily have to belong to the Catholic tradition. It promotes, in particular, the spiritual side to the lives of married couples and families.  The group of couples meet monthly on an informal basis, in one of the couple’s homes, for a ‘simple’ meal, discussion and prayers.  They also participate in other activities within the organisation including regional Masses, family picnics and conferences.

The Knights of St Columba is an organisation of Catholic men who support the clergy of the diocese in their work and raise money for local, national and international charities including Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice, CAFOD and many more.  They also organise a number of regular social events within Bedford for parishes, our elderly and infirm members and general fundraising purposes.

The motto of the order is “Charity, Unity and Fraternity”, which they try to live up to through their varied work.  They are a friendly bunch and meet on the second Wednesday of the month at Our Lady of Ransom Church in Kempston at 8pm.

 May Bible Study Group

bible

The Bible Study Group has been meeting since 1984.  We meet in each other’s houses, so that no one person is “in charge”, and the host for the evening provides tea, coffee and biscuits.

In the early days we used a Guide Book called “How to start a small Bible Study group” and we simply followed the suggestions in this very helpful little book. We have kept the same basic format throughout the years, and this has worked very well. We choose a theme and read around that subject, often with the help of Study Books bought from Christian bookshops.  We make use of questions that encourage open and frank discussions, with no “right” or “wrong” answer, and we value open discussion and sharing of ideas and experiences.

We meet at 8pm on a Wednesday evening.  If anyone is interested in joining our group  then please complete the contact form.

June Individual Members of the Parish We are individual members of the Parish.  We may or may not be part of other groups in the Parish, but we like to undertake the role of Welcomer.  We are always looking for new Welcomers to help out, so if you are interested in joining the team, please complete the contact form.
